Terms of service
Last updated
These terms of service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and YelMail ("we", "us", "our"). They apply to the website at yelmail.com, the YelMail browser extension, the YelMail apps for iOS and Android, and the YelMail developer API (together, the "Service"). By using the Service you accept these Terms, our Acceptable use policy and our Privacy policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Who can use YelMail
You must be at least 13 years old, or older if your country requires it, to use the Service. To buy Premium you must be old enough to enter a binding contract where you live, or have a parent or guardian's permission. If you use the Service on behalf of an organisation, you confirm that you are allowed to accept these Terms for it.
2. What the Service is
YelMail gives you temporary, receive-only email addresses. Please understand how it works before you rely on it:
- Receive only. You cannot send email from a YelMail address. Premium users can forward incoming mail to a personal address they have verified.
- Temporary by design. Emails are deleted automatically when they expire, and inboxes expire after a period without use. Deleted data cannot be recovered. Current limits are shown on the Pricing page.
- Addresses can be reused. Once an address expires, it may be issued to someone else, who would then receive new mail sent to it.
- Some senders block temporary email. Other websites may refuse or block YelMail addresses. We do not guarantee that any particular sender will deliver to us.
- Not for important accounts. Do not use a temporary address for banking, government, medical, work or any other account you may need to recover, or for anything you cannot afford to lose.
3. Guest inboxes and accounts
You can use a free inbox without an account. Access to a guest inbox depends on a private key stored in your browser, app or extension. If you clear it, switch devices or lose it, you lose access to that inbox, and we cannot restore it.
If you create an account:
- give accurate information and keep your email address up to date;
- keep your password and sign-in tokens secret, and tell us at [email protected] if you think someone else has access;
- you are responsible for everything that happens under your account;
- accounts are personal. Do not share or sell them.
4. Acceptable use
You must follow our Acceptable use policy. In short, do not use YelMail for anything illegal, harmful or abusive, do not create inboxes in bulk to cheat other services, and do not try to access inboxes that are not yours or disrupt the Service. We may block senders, delete inboxes and suspend accounts that break these rules.
5. Premium subscriptions
Plans and prices. Premium is offered as a monthly or yearly subscription. Prices, features and limits are shown on the Pricing page and at checkout. Prices may not include taxes, which are added where required.
Automatic renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period, at the then-current price, until you cancel. By subscribing you authorise us (through our payment provider) to charge your payment method on each renewal.
Cancelling. You can cancel at any time from Account → Billing, or through Apple or Google if you subscribed in a mobile app. You keep Premium until the end of the period you have paid for, and you will not be charged again.
Refunds. See our Refund policy.
Price changes. We will tell you at least 30 days before a price change affects your subscription. If you do not agree, you can cancel before the new price applies.
Failed payments. If a renewal payment fails, we may retry it. If it still fails, your account moves to the Free plan.
Moving to Free. When Premium ends, Free limits apply again. Premium features stop, inboxes above the Free limit or on Premium domains may be removed, and emails older than the Free retention period may be deleted. Download anything you want to keep before your subscription ends.
App store purchases. If you buy Premium inside an iOS or Android app, the purchase is processed by Apple or Google and is also governed by their terms. Billing, renewals, cancellations and refunds for those purchases are managed by them.
6. Developer API
Premium includes access to the YelMail API. When you use it:
- keep your API keys secret. You are responsible for all requests made with them, and you can revoke a key at any time;
- stay within the rate limits for your plan and do not try to get around them;
- do not use the API to build a competing temporary email service, resell access to it, or create inboxes in bulk to abuse other services;
- the API is versioned (for example /api/v1). We try to give reasonable notice before making breaking changes to a published version, but we may change or retire endpoints when we need to for security or legal reasons.
7. Browser extension and mobile apps
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the YelMail browser extension and mobile apps on devices you own or control, only to use the Service under these Terms. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell or lease them, or reverse engineer them except where the law allows it.
Apps and extensions may update automatically. Some features may require the latest version. Your use of an app store or browser store is also governed by that store's terms.
Additional terms for apps downloaded from the Apple App Store
- These Terms are between you and YelMail only, not Apple. YelMail, not Apple, is solely responsible for the app and its content.
- Your licence is limited to using the app on Apple-branded products that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.
- Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for the app.
- If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any) for the app. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app.
- YelMail, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims relating to the app, including product liability claims, claims that the app fails to meet legal or regulatory requirements, and consumer protection or privacy claims.
- If a third party claims that the app or your use of it infringes their intellectual property, YelMail, not Apple, is responsible for investigating, defending, settling and discharging that claim.
- You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated as "terrorist supporting", and that you are not listed on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- You must comply with applicable third-party terms when using the app, such as your mobile data agreement.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and, once you accept them, may enforce them against you.
Questions, complaints or claims about the app: [email protected].
8. Your content
"Your content" means the emails you receive, the inbox names and labels you create, and anything else you add to the Service. You keep whatever rights you have in it. You give us permission to store, process, display and (at your request) forward your content, only as needed to run the Service for you.
You are responsible for your content and for how you use it. Emails are sent to you by third parties. We do not control, check or endorse them, and we are not responsible for what they contain. Be careful with links and attachments from senders you do not know.
9. Our intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design, text, logos and the YelMail name and ghost mark, belongs to YelMail and its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not give you any right to use our brand. If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them without any obligation to you.
10. Third-party services
The Service relies on and links to services run by others, such as Stripe, Google, Apple and ad networks. Their terms and privacy policies apply to your use of them, and we are not responsible for them.
11. Changes and availability
We work to keep YelMail fast and reliable, but we do not promise that it will always be available, uninterrupted, error-free or able to receive every email. We may change, suspend or discontinue features, domains or the Service at any time. If we discontinue Premium, we will refund the unused part of any prepaid subscription.
12. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement and accuracy. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be limited by contract.
13. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- YelMail will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, revenue, goodwill or access to third-party accounts, arising from or related to the Service;
- YelMail's total liability for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) US$50.
These limits do not apply to liability that cannot be limited by law, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
14. Indemnity
If you use the Service in breach of these Terms or the law, and someone makes a claim against us as a result, you agree to cover our reasonable losses and costs (including legal fees) arising from that claim, to the extent permitted by law.
15. Suspension and termination
You can stop using the Service at any time and delete your account. We may suspend or end your access, delete inboxes, or block addresses and senders, with or without notice, if you break these Terms or the Acceptable use policy, if the law requires it, or if your use puts the Service or others at risk. If we end a paid subscription without cause, we will refund the unused part.
Sections that by their nature should survive termination, including 8, 9 and 12 to 17, continue to apply.
16. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the country where YelMail's operator is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Before starting a formal claim, please contact us at [email protected] so we can try to resolve the issue informally within 30 days.
If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country of residence and may bring a claim in the courts where you live.
17. General
- Changes to these Terms. We may update these Terms. If a change is material, we will tell you at least 30 days in advance by email or with a notice in the Service. If you keep using the Service after a change takes effect, you accept the new Terms.
- Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the policies they link to, are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service.
- Severability. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
- No waiver. If we do not enforce a right, we have not given it up.
- Assignment. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms. We may transfer ours as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.
