Delete your account

Last updated

You can delete your YelMail account and its data at any time, on any device. This page explains how, and what happens to your data.

Before you start

  • Cancel Premium first. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription automatically. Cancel it from Account → Billing, or in your Apple ID or Google Play settings if you subscribed in a mobile app.
  • Save anything you need. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

Delete on the website

  1. Sign in at yelmail.com.
  2. Go to Account → Settings.
  3. Under "Delete account", confirm with your password.

Delete in the iOS or Android app

  1. Open the app and sign in.
  2. Go to Settings → Delete account.
  3. Confirm.

Remove the browser extension

Removing the extension from your browser deletes the inbox keys, sign-in token and settings it stored on your device. To delete your account itself, use the website or app steps above.

Ask us to delete it

If you cannot sign in, email [email protected] from the email address on your account and ask us to delete it. We may ask you to confirm the request. We complete deletion requests within 30 days, usually much sooner.

What gets deleted

Right away, and permanently:

  • your profile: name, email address, password and linked Google sign-in;
  • all your inboxes, emails and attachments;
  • forwarding addresses, API keys and signed-in sessions.

What we keep, and for how long

  • Payment records held by Stripe, Apple or Google, which they must keep under tax and accounting law.
  • Server and security logs for up to 30 days.
  • Records of abuse or fraud, for as long as needed to protect the Service or deal with a legal claim.

Guest inboxes

A guest inbox is not linked to any account. Delete it from the inbox menu, or simply let it expire: it is deleted automatically, with all its emails.

See our Privacy policy for more on how we handle your data.
